Our teachers didn't ask for much in 2024. With your help Aleph Centauri was able to secure the requested items in our teacher's wish list. Your generosity, no matter the size, put a smile on many faces and the teachers greatly appreciate those USB fans (it's hot on the island).

Seedlings Preschool
History
Serving the community for over 40 years and the only preschool to date in the village of Soufriere, Seedlings Preschool was devastated in 2017 by hurricane Maria. The Founder of Aleph Centauri has been an avid supporter of the school for over 16 years, and has brought them on board as international partners.
The devastation caused by hurricane Maria was astounding and the entire preschool was destroyed. Generous donations helped raise funds to provide supplies, food, teaching aids, toys and so much more as the children and teachers struggled to rebuild.
Out of the Ruins
What remained of the school were the front steps and the foundation. A local church allowed the teachers to use their community center as a temporary location.
Rebuilding
Seedlings currently operates from the community center. Our teachers have done an incredible job with limited resources, and have been instrumental in infusing some form of normalcy and routine into the lives of our children.
Aleph Centauri has renewed our partnership with Seedlings Preschool. We are excited about the possibilities.
Soufriere Preschool During the Pandemic
Assistance
Many parents have been unable to provide the necessary payment to compensate teachers for services and cover minimal costs. As a result Aleph Centauri occasionally provides two stipends to help reduce the burden on teachers. In addition, the organization has purchased a new printer/copier and supplies for the preschool to facilitate a more efficient use of teachers' time. Prior to this teachers would write out or draw all the lesson materials for each child.
Continued Assistance
Our hope is to expand the partnership as funding permits providing greater assistance to the preschool when it is needed. The Preschool functions without a permanent location since losing its building during Hurricane Maria.
